How to Join
Joining the EA is simple!
If you are in a position represented by the Engineering Association, Inc. (EA) and you are not yet a member, all you have to do is fill out a form, which you can find in the button below.
If you prefer, you can also get a form by contacting your Designated Union Representative (DUR). If you do not know who your DUR is, then you can contact the EA office directly at 632-2489 or 1-800-531-3001 if at an offsite TVA location.
As with any association or nonprofit, in order to fund our activities we have a dues structure. Our dues are used to fund, for example, training DUR and EA staff to better advocate and assist you, office supplies, salaries for staff, legal support, communication, etc.
It should be noted that your dues do not go to politicians or political parties.
Why We Need Your Support
The EA has the ability to negotiate and collaborate with TVA management and legislators on improving your pay, benefits, and working conditions because of our members. With your support, we gain more standing, and we learn what issues and improvement you would like to see your unique part of TVA given the size and scope.
What is so great about the EA is that the elected officials who represent your interest are TVA employees just like you. These individuals work side-by-side with you on a daily basis and seek to advance your common and individual interest when discussing issues with management. Only members have a vote in electing which fellow employees represent them when negotiating wages, benefits and other working conditions with TVA.
It has been proven time and time again that there is strength in numbers and increased solidarity allows groups of people to gain more benefits collectively than they can alone. When the EA speaks to TVA and public officials, the higher the level of membership and solidarity then the more willingness they will have listening to our concerns and suggestions.
Membership is an opportunity for you to take personal ownership over your career and TVA's future. We need your thoughts and ideas on how we can improve TVA since we cannot do this alone.
EA members receive many benefits and have rights unlike some other similarly situated employees at companies where they do not have a collective bargaining agreement.
These Benefits include:
Overtime for Exempt Employees
Overtime rates which are greater than time and one-half for Non-Exempt Employees
Premium Pay for Exempt and Non-Exempt Employees
Protection from unjust discipline actions
Medical and Dental Plans negotiated on your behalf
Severance Pay (provided you are eligible) if you receive a Reduction-In-Force (RIF) Notice
Ability to designate one week of preferred Annual Leave
Jointly Administered Custom Survey of other companies to compare total compensation levels (pay, overtime, bonuses, retirement benefits, leave, medical, etc.)
EA members have rights to the following:
Ensure you are properly classified and being paid correctly
Opportunity to be considered for promotions based on merit and skills
Provided proper overtime and premium pay rates
Request a review of annual ratings that seem unfair
Seek readdress of an initial establishment of your performance goals
